Philosophy
My Philosophy Focuses on Measurement, Iteration, and Disciplined Decisions
The lifeblood of a business is contained in its financial statements. To measure the health of a business is to understand its financial position and trajectory. With simple financial statements and thoughtful analysis, we can more easily guide your business toward success.
What determines the success of your business is not only subjective—your vision for the business—but also quantifiable. By organizing a clear picture of your business’s financial information we gain a deeper understanding of your business and can set goals and waypoints.
With a clear picture of financial health, we are armed with the knowledge to make informed decisions. These decisions must be guided by a comprehensive and tailored strategy—how we propel your company toward a desired future state—which will simplify decision making and focus your business on measured success.
Methodology
My Methodology Meets Your Business’s Need
I use a variety of tools, frameworks, and processes to clarify the current state of your business and illuminate the path toward your desired outcome. My mindset and method toward business is dynamic—this allows me to tune in to your business and its needs.
The evolution of your business starts by capturing its current state. We will rely on proven frameworks such as the business model canvas to chart your business’s revenue, expense, value proposition, key inputs, and customer perspectives. We will continuously test these variables as we develop a strategy for growth and determine the critical components of your business that need attention.
The process is fluid—we grow, change, and evolve based on each moment. We will identify, prioritize, and focus on areas of your business that need attention. However, our targets and focus will regularly change as we set and accomplish goals and identify new obstacles. Monthly, in-person meetings are the most effective means of communication—this allows us to connect on strategic content and financial reconciliation.
Construction and maintenance of an income statement and a balance sheet are the foundations of your business’s financial health. During our monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews we will discuss revenue, expenses, net income, asset and liability balances, and equity value. Our focus on progress against benchmarks, such as forecasts, strategic plans, and prior periods will measure your business's performance.
